The U.S. Supreme Court just recently ruled that marriage equality is the law in all 50 states. But what exactly does that mean? The QLaw Foundation has gathered a team of legal experts to discuss the decision, and one of those experts, Jill Mullins-Cannon of Justice & Equality Legal Services, PLLC, is a Bainbridge lawyer. She will be joined by Tara Borelli from Lambda Legal, David Ward from Legal Voice, and Hank Balson on behalf of the ACLU.
The discussion happens tonight at Seattle’s Town Hall, 1119 8th Avenue, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The attorneys will share the highlights of the decision and provide their insights on how the opinion will affect other LGBTQ legal issues. Then a team of leading LGBTQ organizations—ACLU, ERW, Gender Justice League, GSBA, Ingersoll Gender Justice, Lambda Legal, Legal Voice, and Pride Foundation—will discuss their projects and next areas of focus. Q&A will follow both the legal and community panels.
Mullins-Cannon received the Recent Graduate Award from the University of Washington School of Law, and she was selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers. She has presented throughout Washington and nationally.
Organizers are asking attendees to RSVP to QLaw.events@gmail.com.
